In line with Apple’s tradition of simplicity, the name MM1 mirrors the naming style of its M1 chip.

Performance Comparison MM1

When comparing performance, it’s essential to look at the parameters. OpenAI‘s GPT-4 impresses with over a trillion parameters, and Claude 3 Opus leads with 2 trillion parameters. However, Apple’s MM1, with its 30 billion parameters, may seem like a lightweight contender. But it’s worth remembering that GPT-3, a force to reckon with in AI, had 175 billion parameters. 

MM1’s Multimodal Approach

Although MM1 may fall short in the parameter race, it stands out for its bold and innovative design. Leading AI models released by OpenAI and Anthropic currently lack video generation capabilities.

Apple’s MM1 model may not boast the highest number of parameters compared to its competitors.
