These pages give overviews of technical terms that you may encounter in transformation programmes, along with real world examples and FAQ
Sparse Neural Representations
Sparse neural representations refer to a way of organising information in neural networks so that only a small number of neurons are active or used at any one time. This approach mimics how the human brain often works, where only a few cells respond to specific stimuli, making the system more efficient. Sparse representations can make neural networks faster and use less memory, while also helping them avoid overfitting by focusing only on the most important features of the data.
Board-Level Digital KPIs
Board-Level Digital KPIs are specific measurements that company boards use to track and assess the success of digital initiatives. These indicators help senior leaders understand how digital projects contribute to the companynulls overall goals. By focusing on clear, quantifiable data, boards can make better decisions about digital investments and strategies.
Value Hypothesis Tracking
Value Hypothesis Tracking is the practice of regularly checking whether the assumptions about how a product or feature will deliver value to users are correct. It involves setting clear goals for what success looks like, collecting data on user behaviour, and comparing the results to the original expectations. By doing this, teams can quickly see if their idea is working or needs to be changed, helping them avoid wasting time and resources.
Static Blocks
Static blocks are sections of code in some programming languages that run once when a class is loaded into memory, before any objects are created from that class. They are often used to set up initial configurations, load resources, or perform other setup tasks that should happen only once. Static blocks help ensure that certain actions are completed before any methods or constructors are called.
Dynamic Prompt Autonomy
Dynamic Prompt Autonomy refers to the ability of an AI or software system to modify, generate, or adapt its own instructions or prompts without constant human input. This means the system can respond to changing situations or user needs by updating how it asks questions or gives tasks. The goal is to make interactions more relevant and efficient by letting the system take initiative in adjusting its approach.
Encrypted Feature Processing
Encrypted feature processing is a technique used to analyse and work with data that has been encrypted for privacy or security reasons. Instead of decrypting the data, computations and analysis are performed directly on the encrypted values. This protects sensitive information while still allowing useful insights or machine learning models to be developed. It is particularly important in fields where personal or confidential data must be protected, such as healthcare or finance.
Output Buffering
Output buffering is a technique used by computer programs to temporarily store data in memory before sending it to its final destination, such as a screen or a file. This allows the program to collect and organise output efficiently, reducing the number of times it needs to access slow resources. Output buffering can improve performance and provide better control over when and how data is displayed or saved.
IT Modernisation
IT modernisation means updating old computer systems, software, and processes to newer, more effective technologies. This helps organisations work faster, improve security, and save money by replacing outdated tools. The process can include moving to cloud services, automating manual tasks, and adopting new software platforms.
Weight Pruning Automation
Weight pruning automation refers to using automated techniques to remove unnecessary or less important weights from a neural network. This process reduces the size and complexity of the model, making it faster and more efficient. Automation means that the selection of which weights to remove is handled by algorithms, requiring little manual intervention.
Yield Farming
Yield farming is a way for people to earn rewards by lending or staking their cryptocurrency in special online platforms called decentralised finance, or DeFi, protocols. Users provide their funds to these platforms, which then use the money for things like loans or trading, and in return, users receive interest or new tokens as a reward. This process allows individuals to make their crypto assets work for them instead of just holding onto them.
